Matilde is a Portuguese illustrator and designer.
Matilde Horta was born in Penafiel, Portugal, in the summer of 1993.
She graduated in Design at University of Aveiro + University of Leipzig. In 2014 she worked in Atelier João Nunes as design assistant and manager assistant of the project Agricultura Lusitana - Aldeias do Xisto, and a year later, she moved to Lisbon to be a designer and facilitator at With Company. After three years working in the design field, she decided to invest on something she always loved: illustration. It was the sabbatic year of 2017 that made her rethink her career, graduating in Illustration and Digital Animation in ESAD - Matosinhos. That’s when she started her career as an illustrator.
She is currently working as a full-time freelance illustrator and designer in a small village near Cinfães do Douro.
Apart from being a freelancer, Matilde splits her time between her online shop, developing personal projects and creating handmade ceramics (she is an amateur birdwatcher too!).
